Buying a new build home will save you money, says Stockton housebuilder

Homeowners in the North East spend nearly £550 a year on home improvement, says a new report from Barbour ABI, though local housebuilder Lovell Homes and Muse Developments believe that this annual expenditure could be eliminated through purchasing a new build home.

Britain’s Home Improvement Report 2016 looks at trends in planning for households across the country and is based on the number of planning applications for residential improvements received by each planning authority compared with the estimate for the number of private homes within that authority. The findings give an insight into the finances of the average homeowner via region and how much money they are likely to spend improving their home.

Colette Armstrong, Sales Manager at Lovell Homes and Muse Developments said: “The report states earnings in the North East are lower than the national average and so it would be fair to assume that homeowners really can’t afford to spend hundreds of pounds improving a home to meet their needs. A new build home is ready to move into and will not need any immediate home improvements, saving the homebuyer a significant amount of money year on year.”

The homes at Lovell Homes and Muse Developments’ Vivo on Northshore Road have seen impressive sales success since the development’s launch in 2011. The housebuilder believes that this is because homebuyers in the area are looking for a straight forward, hassle free purchase with no work required, leaving time and money free for other things.
Colette Armstrong adds: “Buying a new home is a major purchase in anyone’s life, particularly if you are a first time buyer. Couple that with budgeting for building modifications and the whole process becomes extremely daunting and full of uncertainty. With a new build, homebuyers need not worry about home improvement costs spiralling out of control, which can often be then case once they embark on a project.

“The new homes at Vivo also include the security of NHBC warranty for 10 years and a two year builder’s warranty. Plus, all appliances are under guarantee and with the added bonus of PV panels, homeowners will save on energy costs.
“The money saved from removing the need to change a property could be far better spent on home furnishings or even holidays. The houses at Vivo are varied in size and specification, appealing to a wide range of homebuyers. This level of choice offers a stress free home buying journey for the purchaser from the outset. Purchasing a new build property, like the homes at Vivo, offers better value for money in the long run.”
